Seattle-Area King Salmon Season Heating Up | Mid-Summer Fishing Report
The 2025 king salmon season is off to a red-hot start and the action has been steady from Edmonds all the way down through the greater Seattle fishing grounds. Multiple trips have seen limits hit early with both chinook and coho showing up in great numbers and size.
Current Derby Leader:
The leaderboard is tight, but one angler currently sits on top with an impressive 18 lb 3 oz king. Not far behind, several solid fish in the 11 to 13 lb range have been brought in by excited charter guests, with photos to prove it.
What's Biting:
King salmon (chinook): Strong showings all month, especially on early morning tides
Coho salmon: Gaining size and numbers fast with great signs for August and September
Average king size: 10 to 13 lbs, with standout catches pushing past 15 lbs
Tengu Club Spirit:
The friendly competition is alive and well. Every trip has its contender. Whether it’s a solo angler holding a massive king or a group haul filling the dock, we’ve had an incredible stretch of trips with happy clients, great weather, and big fish.
